The EDIT RECTANGULAR PATTERN dialog box and the pattern manipulators appear, allowing you to modify the pattern. Optionally, you can right-click the glyph and select Edit. To edit the pattern, double-click the pattern glyph near the first object in the pattern. If you deselect any of these boxes, those occurrences in the pattern will be suppressed and will not be created. This indicates that the occurrence will appear in the pattern. Notice the boxes at the center of the patterned objects.
Do not confuse spacing as the distance between the objects, such as from the bottom of the first rectangle to the top of the second rectangle. Selecting Spacing for the Distance Type measures from the first object in the pattern to the same point on the next object in the pattern.
For example, the distance from the upper-left corner of the first rectangle to the upper-left corner of the last rectangle. The Distance values control the spacing from a common point on the original objects to a common point on the last objects in the pattern. Restore the Direction Type to One Direction. This can be useful for patterns that need to be centered on a face. Next, in the RECTANGULAR PATTERN dialog box, toggle the first Direction Type option to Symmetric. Now use the dialog box increment arrows to set the quantity to 4. In the edit box, type 5 to see the pattern change. Drag the vertical quantity manipulator to increase the number of rows in the pattern to 6. The quantity of rows and columns can be controlled by the manipulators that appear as a double-arrow, or by entering a value in the edit box, or in the dialog box. You should now have a rectangular pattern of rectangles. Click and drag the horizontal arrow to the right about 20 mm. While you drag, the pattern begins to appear. Click and drag the vertical arrow down about 30 mm. You are editing the sketch to create the holes in the remote control for the number keys.
Leave the pattern at its default directions. The Direction/s button allows you to select an edge or work axis as a guide to control the direction of the pattern. Now, the dialog contains several more options, and manipulators appear near the sketch. The RECTANGULAR PATTERN dialog box appears with the Objects selection button active. On the ribbon, expand the SKETCH panel and select Rectangular Pattern. With the Model workspace active, in the browser or on the Timeline, locate and activate the Numbers sketch. Once you complete the sketch pattern, you can use it to create bodies or features on the model. The patterned geometry is fully constrained by default.
